F2 Solutions uses Cloud Computing - an ideal technological solution for registries and decision-support algorithms. It enables firms to leverage the power of remote resources with no IT involvement.

Cloud Computing shifts the burden of managing and maintaining computing resources to the application provider, and provides users with the convenience of accessing information via an array of Internet search engines.

Internet-based Computing

Cloud Computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information, are provided to computers and other devices on-demand. It is a paradigm shift in the logical computing evolution from mainframe computers to client-server systems, and now to Cloud Computing. In Cloud Computing details are abstracted from the users who no longer have need of expertise in, or control over the technology infrastructure "in the cloud" that supports them. Cloud Computing describes a new consumption and delivery model for IT services based on the Internet, which involves the provision of dynamically scalable and virtualized resources as a service over the Internet. Cloud Computing has come as a byproduct and consequence of the ease-of-access to remote computing sites provided by the Internet.

Browser Independence

The term "cloud" is used as a metaphor for the Internet, based on the cloud drawing used to depict the Internet in computer network diagrams as a representation of the underlying infrastructure the cloud represents. F2 Solutions is a cloud computing provider in delivering a powerful business application online which our users access via their web browsers, while the actual software application, database and support software applets are stored on, and execute on F2 Solutions servers located in a hardened, secure and protected Internet Data Center.

The power of Cloud Computing is that it enables users on different client machines such as Macs and PC's, to access the same web-based application. It also enables application providers such as F2 Solutions to implement metrics server-side to scale resources to accommodate growing groups of users such that all users continue to have rapid response times.

Browsers and Super-Users

The algorithm is deployed in a web-based application which is supported on Internet browsers such as Internet Explorer (versions 7.x and 8.x), Mozilla Firefox (version 3.x) and Safari (version 5.x). Users will have password-protected accounts created by the System Administrator at F2 Solutions. The SysAdmin will train a Super-User at the Company's facilities or at the customer site to be able to manage their own user accounts for adding and deleting users.

Security Model

In addition, to provide additional layers of security, the application will only be accessible via 128-bit encrypted Virtual Private Network (VPN) access. The algorithm’s database is a SQL-compatible relational database that is maintained on F2 Solutions servers, which are fully redundant with hot-swappable drives, fail-over potential, in a temperature-controlled, biometrically-secured data center. F2 Solutions maintains a comprehensive disaster-recovery program with daily and weekly backups, escrowed software, and redundant copies of all critical software components.
